State of Hawaiʻi Department of Defense State of Hawaiʻi Department of Defense Home Page The State of Hawaiʻi Department of Defense (HIDOD) HIDOD is over 6,000 individuals strong and led by a director called The Adjutant General. HIDOD includes five divisions: the Hawaiʻi Army National Guard, the Hawaiʻi Air National Guard, the Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency, the Office of Veterans’ Services and Civilian Military Programs. The Mission: Always ready, the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Defense enables a safe, secure, and thriving state and nation. Our Vision: Trusted, Ready, Responsive Video descriptive text Divisions of the Department of Defense Hawai’i Army National Guard (HIARNG) The HIARNG provides manned, trained and equipped units that can respond to any national contingency ranging from war and peacekeeping missions to responding to natural disasters. HIARNG Hawai’i Air National Guard (HIANG) The HIANG provides organized, trained units, Airmen, and Guardians that can respond to any national contingency ranging from war and peacekeeping missions to responding to natural disasters. HIANG Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency (HIEMA) HIEMA plans for and responds to both natural and human-caused emergencies. HIEMA is the coordinating agency between federal and local agencies. HIEMA Office of Veterans’ Services (OVS) OVS is the principal state office responsible for the development and management of policies and programs related to veterans, their dependents, and/or survivors. OVS Civilian Military Programs (Civ-Mil) Civ-Mil leverages the skills and resources of the HIDOD with the community to empower civil-military relationships. Civ-Mil HIDOD Community Support HIDOD welcomes the opportunity to connect.
