Dr. Matthew Morena brings math to life by connecting concepts to real-world problems. His innovative, high-impact teaching has earned him the Mathematical Association of America’s 2025 John M. Smith Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching, the first CNU faculty member to receive the honor.

For the third consecutive year, Christopher Newport University Captains won gold at the International Leadership Association’s Student Case Study Competition, rising above teams from around the world.
