Welcome to the Allegany Museum
THE CROSSROADS OF AMERICAN HISTORY
Allegany Museum is located at 3 Pershing St, Cumberland MD. It covers two floors of a fully restored neo-classical revival building built in the 1930s. The Museum serves the Allegany area, which is part of the Appalachia region. The Allegany area includes Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland, Mineral County in West Virginia, and Bedford and Somerset Counties in Pennsylvania. The Museum’s Mission is to engage the community by preserving and promoting our region’s unique heritage.

The Allegany Museum relies on donations in all forms to sustain its operations. We accept financial donations as well as physical donations. Allegany Museum collects the material culture of our community, past and present. Our institution maintains and preserves these items for the benefit of present and future generations.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS ALLEGANY MUSEUM, INC. will be receiving sealed bids on May 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. This project includes the replacement of existing air conditioning systems (window air conditioners) on the second and third floors with a variable refrigerant flow heat pump system, along with asbestos abatement in the basement. A pre-bid walkthrough will be held at on April 30, 2026, 10:30 a.m. at the Allegany Museum, 3 Pershing St., Cumberland, MD in the second floor Boardroom. Sealed bids will be opened on May 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Museum’s Boardroom. For additional information on the project and digital copies of the bidding documents contact Vic Rezendes at vicrezendes@gmail.com or contact Michael Fetchero at the Museum at 301-777-7200. The Allegany Museum reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
