Berdiri pada tahun 1972, dengan tujuan utama untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tenaga perawat. Pendidikan suaka insan terus berproses dari mulai status Program Sekolah Penjenang Kesehatan Umum (SPKU), kemudian Pendidikan Sekolah Perawat Kesehatan (SPK) sampai dengan Institut Kesehatan Suaka Insan (IKES Suaka Insan).
