The Parlor Featuring items that would have been found in parlors of the homes of the mining era. The Music Room The history of earlier bands and musicians is told through some of the instruments of their craft. The Kitchen The wood stove, the barrel washing machine - what would you find in the kitchens of yesteryear? Destruction by Fire Through photos and text, this exhibit tells the stories of some of the fiery conflagrations that have been an unfortunate part of the history of Houghton County. This special exhibit is a companion to the book Smoke and Flames by local author and Historical Society Board member Avis West. Smoke and Flames is available for sale in the museum, or through our online store Military Room In tribute to the local men and women wo served our country, the Military Room displays uniforms, photos, and other items to tell some of their stories. The Boutique Before online shopping, people perused the local paper for sales and visited the locally owned shops that which filled our downtowns. Textiles Recently redone, the Textiles Room offers examples of craft, fashion and design from an earlier era. Sports Find photos and memoribilia from local sports teams - professional and amateur The Curiosity Room Our newest exhibit, the Curiosity Room is fun for the whole family.
