The Yorkshire Party is a democratic, member-led political party founded in 2014 to give Yorkshire a stronger, clearer voice in how it is governed.
We represent the historic county of Yorkshire and the people who live and work here.
Yorkshire has the population, talent, economy, and identity of a nation, yet too many decisions affecting our communities are still made elsewhere. The Yorkshire Party exists to change that through practical devolution, accountability, and common-sense politics rooted in place.
Who We Are
We
believe
decisions should be made as close as possible to the people they affect, by people who understand Yorkshire because they live here.
We are not driven by Westminster ideology or left–right tribalism, but by what works for Yorkshire.
What We Stand For
• Decisions made closer to the people they affect
• A democratically elected Yorkshire Parliament with real powers
• Fair funding for Yorkshire’s public services and infrastructure
• Local control over transport, skills, housing, and economic development
• Respect for Yorkshire’s identity, history, and communities
Why Join The Yorkshire Party?
Members
have a real voice and genuine influence. As a regional party, we offer meaningful involvement, not token membership. Members help shape policy, vote in internal elections, support local campaigns, and can stand as candidates in local and regional elections.
We bring together people from different backgrounds who share a single belief: Yorkshire should decide for Yorkshire.
Leadership & Organisation
The Party is run by its members and volunteers from across the county.
The
Party Leader is Laurence Waterhouse
, supported by elected officers including the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Committee. All officers are elected by the membership and operate transparently under the Party Constitution.

Student Membership – £5 per year
Standard Membership – £20 per year
White Rose Membership – £50 per year
