We also have a public maternity hospital in South Brisbane. With our second public maternity hospital currently under construction in Springfield and due to open in 2026.

What's the first step?
The first step is to visit your GP for a check-up to confirm your pregnancy and request a referral to one of our maternity hospitals.
Meet our obstetricians
If you plan to have your baby at one of our private hospitals, you will need to ask your GP to refer you to a private obstetrician who practices at Mater. Prior to your GP visit, it is helpful for you to know which obstetrician you would like to manage your private maternity care.
