Participation in Extracurriculars
From our diverse community to our academic excellence, explore the key highlights that define the AAS experience.
Our Elementary School offers a nurturing environment where young learners explore, create, and discover.
With a focus on hands-on experiences and play, students build a strong foundation in core subjects while developing social skills and a love for learning.
In Middle School, students experience a dynamic and supportive environment that encourages academic and personal growth.
With a wide range of subjects and extracurricular activities, students are guided to explore their interests and develop their unique talents.
Our High School program prepares students for higher education and beyond.
Offering a rigorous curriculum, including the IB Diploma Programme, students are challenged to think critically, engage deeply, and achieve their full potential in a global context.
I really enjoy the teenage sense of humour and I find the international dynamic to the classroom especially interesting when teaching languages. There are never any two days that are the same in teaching and it is never boring. Even after 18 years it is still not boring!
What brings me the most joy in my job is witnessing my students realize their potential and achieve their goals. Engaging in deep conversations across a wide range of topics and subjects with my students enriches both their learning experience and my own professional fulfillment.
I experience moments of JOY every day, from our Circle Time "aha" moments to watching a child connect a concept or recall an idea we had discussed in a previous lesson.
Always Maslow before Bloom. Children are impressionable and we are in the job of moulding the generation of tomorrow. Establishing strong relationships and knowing each student's unique personality, are key to fostering a conducive learning environment.
AAS Sofia is a place where dedication to teaching meets a community of lifelong learners, where the positivism and creativity of the teachers are like nowhere else, and where students are supported in their journey.
I came for the job and stayed for my family. The AAS Community provides me with a great working environment and has given my family many opportunities and support that we would otherwise not have.
What makes my experience within this school so unique is having the ability to integrate my creative abilities. I thrive in an environment that fosters creativity and growth, much like my favorite subject - Visual Arts- which excites me to go to school each day.
What I value most about the school is the range of opportunities available beyond the classroom. I have been able to try activities such as pottery, dance, knowledge bowl, maths counts, volleyball, basketball, football, and orchestra.
I was a student at AAS and I am grateful for the window to the world that it opened for me. Now my son is a student at AAS. While the school provides his foundational education, fosters his critical thinking, and helps develop his social skills, what is most important is that he is very happy to go to AAS every day!
I love the opportunities that AAS provides to its students along with a great community - charity, volunteering, arts, and athletics. I was truly able to grow as an individual thanks to the many activities that I am involved in at the school and because of the incredibly supportive and welcoming environment that AAS is. I really feel like the teachers at AAS set you up for success by caring about your learning and being actively involved with the students. Having only 20 students per class here allows for an individual approach where teachers can actually help you develop your specific strengths.
The Power of Learning From the Pack
Whether you watched live in the audience or via livestream, you must have been as impressed as I was by the talent on display during the CEESA MS Band/Strings/Choir music event last Saturday. One particular aspect that touched me—mentioned by one of the conductors—was the inter-generational nature of the experience.

Hearing Our Children
There was a time when our kids wouldn’t stop talking.
There was a time when their wee little mouths spouted thousands of questions, and a time where their stories wound round and round with nary a plot structure to be found.
