NHC SF Member Blog: Different Ages, Same Heart
Mar 3, 2026
My second service term has shown me that while life stages may differ, the emotional landscape does not. “My background in community health has also proven very useful [at Drexel]: for example, as a part of our Health Advocacy Practicum, I’ve been placed with the Center for Addiction Medicine & Policy, which is one of Penn Medicine’s initiatives… I wouldn’t feel so confident doing that if it weren’t for my experience as a Health Worker at SFDPH, where I worked… to deliver naloxone training in San Francisco. And I wouldn’t have received that offer without my time in the National Health Corps… It really started with the Berkeley Free Clinic and NHC, and now I’m here!”

Feb 10, 2026
“Moments like these remind me that our program is about more than providing incentives or conducting health exams: it’s about opening space where people can begin to heal through community and the connection that we all crave and need.”

NHC SF Member Blog: Chronic Care Management - Improving Outcomes Beyond the Clinic
Feb 10, 2026
“Conducting outreach for CCM-DM has reshaped how I think about chronic disease management. I’ve come to better understand that effective public health interventions must acknowledge the realities of patients’ lives, not just their lab reports.”
