The Samata Party is a political party in India, initially formed in 1994 by Former Defense & Railway Minister of India dynamic leader Late George Fernandes, now it is led by Uday Mandal its National President & Youth Leader. Samata Party first time launched Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar in 2000. It split from Janata Dal. In 2003 one faction of Samata Party merged with Janata Dal (United), another faction led by Member of Parliament Shree Brahmanand Mandal remained in the Samata party and continued to use the party name and symbols.

Late Shri George Fernandes
George Fernandes, a firebrand socialist and trade unionist, had a dynamic electoral career spanning decades. He first shot to prominence in 1967 by defeating Congress stalwart S.K. Patil in Bombay, earning the nickname 'George the Giant-killer.' Over the years, he contested from various constituencies, notably Muzaffarpur and Nalanda, winning multiple times as part of different political formations, including the Janata Party, Janata Dal, and later, the Samata Party, which he founded in 1994 after breaking away from Lalu Yadav’s Janata Dal. Aligning with the BJP, Samata Party played a key role in NDA politics. Fernandes served as a Union Minister in multiple non-Congress governments. His later years saw a decline in health due to Alzheimer’s, and he passed away in January 2019.

Late Shri Brahmanand Mandal
Brahmanand Mandal (14 January 1947 – 30 January 2024) was an Indian politician who represented the Munger constituency in the Lok Sabha for three terms, each under a different political party.
He was elected in 1991 as a member of the Communist Party of India, in 1996 under the Samata Party, and again in 1999 as part of Janata Dal (United). Additionally, he served as the former President of the Samata Party, which is now led by Uday Mandal.

Uday Mandal is an Indian politician and the President of the Samata Party. He hails from the Madhubani Lok Sabha constituency.
Political Career
In 2020, Uday Mandal was appointed as the Bihar State President of the Samata Party at a time when the party was nearly inactive. Under his leadership, efforts were made to revive and expand the party. During the Bihar Assembly Elections of 2020, the Samata Party contested 10 seats under his leadership but did not achieve electoral success. In 2022, he was elevated to the position of National President of the party.
