Volt Belgium: Future, made in Europe – Volt België
Think European, act local
We are Volt, the pan-European political party. For us, European cooperation lies at the heart of our vision. Because today’s societal challenges – such as climate change and migration – are shared with our neighbours and demand a collaborative approach that transcends borders.
Together, we are stronger!

March for Europe
Please register so we know how many people to expect. We love Europe, and we celebrate it on Europe Day with a march through Ghent! We believe in the enormous potential of a united Europe, but still see many areas for improvement, such as A truly democratic system with a directly elected EU president and no abuse of vetoes (ever heard of Hungary’s Orbán?) A truly unified European market without internal trade barriers, which today amount to the equivalent of a 45–110% trade tariff. That would boost the European economy A joint European energy policy towards climate neutrality A European constitution that guarantees the same civil rights in every EU member state A joint European army instead of 27 fragmented pawns of the great powers We call this the United States of Europe. Not a simple copy of the US, but a democratic union that puts people and their rights first. One that embraces science to make the best choices and brings together best practices from across Europe. A fundamentally stronger alliance with the necessary unity and capacity to be the global player we can today only dream of. This Europe march is largely a call for more European unity and the defence of the rule of law, our democracy, and the welfare state in geopolitically turbulent times. This march is one of several events that Volt branches across Europe are organising to celebrate Europe. Practical information 15h00: gathering at Rabotpark 15h15: march departs 16h15: arrival at the Kouter 16h20: introduction of the speakers 16h30-17h: speeches by European experts Route of the march The march starts at Rabotpark and ends at the Kouter. Orbexit: Celebrations and challenges
After sixteen years in power, Europe’s troublemaker-in-chief suffered a crushing election defeat. The end of the “Viktator” is reason for joy, and so is the record voter turnout. Hungarian people took their country and their future back! The images of huge crowds chanting “Europe, Europe, Europe!” are so moving. Hungary gets a new start. Celebration is in order!

Volt’s Call for European Independence: Time to Build the United States of Europe
Europe is a beautiful place. A place worth defending, but a place that can still become so much better. We have 500 million citizens living in diverse societies, independent courts and fair elections, a large and advanced social-market economy, and among the highest standards of living on the globe.

What does Volt stand for?
Empowering cooperation across generations and borders, we are shaping a European story of positive politics. Our approach transcends national boundaries, as we draw inspiration from the best European practices - including Utrecht's cycling infrastructure, Barcelona's urban planning and Vienna's model for affordable housing.
Our political themes
Our political themes
Mobility & Infrastructure
If Belgium and Europe want to be both economically and ecologically prosperous 15 years from now, we have to accelerate and increase investments in sustainable and resilient infrastructure, transport and mobility.
Economy & Fiscal Justice
Our vision is to create a society in which everyone in need benefits from tax relief to make their daily expenses, such as groceries and outings, easier to bear. We aim to eliminate paternalistic practices, such as car subsidies and company cars. Furthermore, we strive for an economy that grows sustainably, benefiting people, health, the planet, and nature.
Energy Transition & Climate
Global warming, the loss of biodiversity, and the pollution of air and water: climate change is causing increasing damage to humans and nature.

Therefore, it is vital, among other things, to transition away from fossil fuels for the future of humanity and indeed the world as we know it. Volt proposes a pragmatic approach based on a combination of nuclear energy and renewable energies, with the latter taking a growing portion of our energy production over the years.
Education & Equal Opportunities
Our European Union is founded upon the values of Respect for human dignity, Freedom, Democracy, Equality, Rule of law, and Respect for human rights, including those of minorities. To realise a society built on these values, Volt is committed to advance policies that lead to Belgium being a systematically inclusive society that offers equal opportunities for all. Systemic inclusion is of high importance as such a society would be beneficial to all Belgians.
EU & Citizen Participation
Volt believes that a lot of issues are the same all over Europe (or even beyond) and need a European response. Therefore it would make sense to move competences from a national and regional, or even a local, level to the EU.
