Inspired and advised by Pujya Ravishankar Maharaj, the revered Saint of Gujarat, Sheth Manilal Lalubhai Shah donated a substantial amount to build our Eye Hospital. Ravishankar Maharaj, who blessed a small charitable hospital to grow into a renowned and leading ophthalmic super specialty institution, became the first founder president of the trust.
Dr. Thakorbhai V. Patel, a leading citizen and former Mayor of Baroda and Minister of Health and Panchayat, Government of Gujarat, succeeded Ravishankar Maharaj as the next president. With his dynamic and vision-oriented leadership, he engineered the progress of the institute for about three decades, placing it on both the national and international map.
