Welcome to St Matthews
As a Catholic school, our most important mission is to help your child come to understand their dignity and value as a person and to develop their capacity to live life to the fullest. We do this by providing an environment that is welcoming, warm, inclusive and focused on the building of positive relationships. We are a reflective community that is always looking for ways to improve and we are committed to providing a learning and teaching environment of the highest quality. We also have a central focus on student wellbeing and spiritual formation as we believe these are inextricably linked to the ability of young people to thrive and grow in their learning.
At the core of everything we do is the St Matthews Way. The St Matthews Way aims to articulate how we as a school community hope to be - staff, students and families. Grounded in the example of our patron, St Matthew, and foundress, Catherine McAuley, the St Matthews Way challenges us to “be more” in the way we respond to Jesus.
The St Matthews Way has become the foundation of the vision and mission of our school community and as such permeates all aspects of school culture. It is defined by the values of Excellence, Courage, Compassion, Respect and Service which come from the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy. It is our hope that when students graduate from St Matthews, they will take these core values with them into their lives beyond school.

We respectfully acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, the traditional custodians of the land upon which we gather. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and future, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes.
We extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
