Overview
Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital is a nationally recognized 143 licensed bed, acute care teaching hospital located in McHenry, Illinois, with more than 600 physicians in 70 specialties who provide comprehensive medical care. The hospital achieved five stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2017 and 2018, ranking it among the top 9 percent of hospitals in the nation for quality care.

McHenry Hospital is a regional destination for cardiovascular and cancer care. The hospital’s physicians and staff provide emergency services, offer inpatient and outpatient care, and specialize in cardiovascular interventions, surgical services, inpatient physical rehabilitation and obstetrics. The hospital campus is home to the only open-heart surgery program in McHenry County and offers advanced treatments such as TAVR, a minimally invasive treatment for patients with diseased heart valves. Worship Services
In addition to our spiritual services, our Animal-Assisted Therapy Program, called Caring Paws, has more than 30 participating dogs. The therapy dogs visit patients in the waiting areas, at McHenry Hospital Cancer Center, and in the nursing units. For more information about Caring Paws, call 815.759.4626.
McHenry Hospital Chapel
The McHenry Hospital Chapel is open 24/7 for visitors, staff and patients. This chapel offers sacred scripture of different faith traditions and special services including funerals, memorials and Ash Wednesday. The chapel is located on the main floor of the hospital across from the main elevators.

The McHenry Hospital Pastoral Care team provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, families and friends. We extend a welcoming hand to people of all faiths. Chaplains who are also healthcare professionals provide pastoral care and help people cope with life’s difficulties through conversation, partnership in prayer or by simply sitting with people in need. Our compassionate chaplains respect each person’s beliefs and listen without judgment. Our chaplains provide sacraments and connections to your own religious community and support groups. They also make regular rounds in the hospital and in the Emergency Department. When faced with some of life’s most difficult decisions, our chaplains are available for ethical consultations. They also provide information about living wills, advance directives and Do Not Resuscitate orders.
