Sustainable empowerment of Indigenous pastoralist women and girls in northern Tanzania
We empower indigenous pastoralist women and girls from the Maasai, Sonjo, Akie, Barabaig, Tatoga and Hadzabe communities. Our programmes are designed to have long lasting and sustainable impact and to reflect our commitments to equity, diversity and inclusivity
Women’s Rights, Agency and Leadership
This goal aims to achieve gender equality and empower pastoralist women as decision-makers with equal rights.
Women’s Economic Empowerment
PWC's second goal focuses on the economic empowerment of pastoralist women.

This goal focuses on enhancing educational opportunities for pastoralist girls, addressing barriers to quality education,
Women’s Heath and Wellness
This goal focuses on enhancing the well-being of pastoralist women by addressing issues related to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and hygiene.
Climate Adaptation and Justice
This goal focuses on enhancing the resilience and adaptation of pastoral communities to the challenges posed by climate change.
Clean Water Access
This goal emphasizes the importance of providing clean water to communities, particularly focusing on the positive impact.

2023 Impact Report
Pastoral Women’s Council (PWC) is a Tanzanian membership organization empowering over 7,000 Maasai women across Ngorongoro, Longido, and Monduli Districts. Founded 25 years ago, PWC champions pastoralist women’s rights, economic empowerment, and access to quality services.
