Lakeland Museum Stories of life in the Lakes Learn more about our collections Lakeland Museum’s extraordinary collection tells the stories of Lakeland life over centuries and shows how our unique landscape has shaped lives, communities and industry. Lakeland Museum is currently closed for a multi-phased redevelopment project, that will reimagine new ways to engage with the collection and the museum site so that it remains accessible, relevant and valued for future generations. In October 2025, Lakeland Arts was awarded £244,000 by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, marking a major step forward as the organisation explores the feasibility of developing an inspiring cultural destination for Kendal and the wider region.
