Our Caboolture Hospital ED sees more than 56,000 patients each year, including over 11,000 paediatric cases.
Clinical Nurse Facilitators like Jemima help to upskill our ED nurses so they can be ready for critical moments.
"As you can imagine, ED can be a wonderfully chaotic, refined mess, but it runs like a well-oiled machine," she said.
"We aim for education to be delivered daily at the start of shifts, and I also coordinate with the ED management team and organise which staff members can be booked in for their upskilling days.
"Working in the ED has provided me with various opportunities of growth professionally, helping peers build confidence in theory and practice is something I’m passionate about."

Absolutely amazing people.
I had a recent stay in the ED at Caboolture in January and was impressed with the new facility, nurses were great up until I was transferred to the Ward PPW and surgery a few days later
wish you all the best Jemima🌹🌹
They need to be taught communication and compassion.
Wait, you have a 4th resus bay yet see less people per year than Rockhampton Hospital.. Rocky only has 3 resus days 😓

Senior Psychologist Melanie wears many hats, as the face behind support for paediatric patients at Caboolture as well as working with adults too! 👒
Whilst she is highly specialised in the paediatric space, Melanie also works within women's health and inpatient areas conducting patient assessments and interventions, writing reports that support Paediatricians to decide on a diagnosis and working with patients who have complex trauma or mental health conditions.
"Each of these roles are very different, the key for me is in assisting someone to obtain their best possible life as the unique person they are," she said.
"My favourite part of having multiple roles is that it provides diversity, giving me the opportunity and space to grow.
"One of the common misconceptions I find with psychology is that people expect the psychologist to make the changes. Ultimately it is the person who creates that change, the psychologist simply provides the path." ❤️

I have found that psychologists don't have much respect for my religious beliefs, so I don't use them anymore. They seem to approach everything from an atheistic value set. I have also found them to be ageist in how they have treated me. Far too many assumptions were made on the basis of age.

Caboolture Hospital is pumping out new research and sophisticated heart imaging techniques to better identify heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. 🫀🩺
Clinical Cardiologist and Echocardiologist Dr Pyi provides both inpatient and outpatient care and his work aims to better predict patient outcomes and improve the clarity and usefulness of cardiac imaging reports so that clinicians and patients can better understand findings.
“I was inspired by how often conditions such as heart failure and pulmonary hypertension are diagnosed late, when symptoms have already progressed,” Dr Pyi said.
“High-quality imaging allows us to identify problems earlier, when treatment is most effective.
“Clearer reporting also strengthens communication, helping patients feel more informed and supported throughout their care.”
