St. Cecilia Academy is unique in Nashville and greater Middle Tennessee. Founded in 1860, we are the oldest continually operating school in the city. St. Cecilia Academy is many things: Catholic. Dominican. College preparatory. All girls. Grades 7-12.
Our school is a rich blend of age-old wisdom and dynamic discovery, a place where learning and laughter happily coexist. St. Cecilia is a community where girls from diverse backgrounds discover a home not just for six years, but for life.
At St. Cecilia Academy, we have faith in young women: in who they are, in what they can become, in the greatness God intends for each one of them.

Isabel Mzumara '25
The all-girls aspect of St. Cecilia Academy allows every girl to know their value and express who they are freely. The friendships built last a lifetime.
Hannah Broderick '26
I could not be more grateful for my St. Cecilia experience, for the special sisterhood formed, and for the lessons learned – both the academic ones and the even more important ones that will guide my life in college and beyond.
Wilson Myers '29
My favorite thing about St. Cecilia Academy is the welcoming community and positive atmosphere. The sisterhood at St. Cecilia is unlike anything I have encountered elsewhere.
Ever Ancient and Ever New
The founding of St. Cecilia Academy was simultaneous with the founding of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation in 1860. Surviving the early tests of the Civil War and then subsequent reconstruction, the Great Depression and two more World Wars, St. Cecilia stands today as the oldest continually operating private school in Nashville.
