Our Mission
Principal's Message
Nau mai, haere mai ki a koutou katoa
Welcome to Cornerstone Christian School.
It is my privilege, as Principal, to introduce you to our school—a warm, forward looking community first established in 1987 and fully integrated into the state system in 1994. Situated in Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North, we are blessed to walk alongside our students on their educational and faith journey from Year 1 through to Year 13.
Grounded in a committed partnership between home and school, our mission is to deliver “a balanced Christian education to help children develop to their full potential in God” . This holistic approach blends academic excellence with spiritual formation—encapsulated in our motto:
Learn, Serve and Grow in God
. We hold the view that Christian Education shines when students are encouraged to flourish intellectually, in their character, and in their faith.
Our distinctive character emphasises Christian Community Living—learning to live as God intends—so that integrity, kindness, humility, diligence, and respect become second nature to our students. We commit to nurturing these qualities intentionally, knowing that academic success is naturally supported by the development of Christlike character.
Through every classroom, and leadership opportunity—from the Primary School, to Middle School, and to the Senior School—students engage in learning that draws out their best. With strong NCEA pathways in the senior years, developmental approaches in the middle school years, and foundational development in the primary years— learning is supported by robust pastoral care, learning support, and ESOL. We aim to equip young people not only for future study or work, but also for lives that contribute meaningfully to God’s world.
As Principal, I am deeply grateful for the partnership we share with caregivers, staff, and our wider Cornerstone whānau. Together, we seek to guide students toward lives of flourishing—anchored in faith, shaped by character, and equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow with confidence.
Please explore our website to discover more about our academic programmes, faith based initiatives, facilities, and the variety of opportunities your child can engage with here. I warmly invite you to visit, ask questions, and see firsthand the vibrant life of our wonderful school.
Ngā mihi nui / With warm regards,
James Rose

Christian Character
Cornerstone Christian School is committed to Growth: The ongoing process of conforming our ways, words, and character to those of Jesus Christ.
We desire that every student deepens their faith and character during their time with us. Biblical principles are woven through every subject and activity. Daily devotions, worship and prayer are integral parts of our school routine.
