The History of Our College
For
over 70 years
, the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology has been dedicated to preparing students for rewarding careers. It all began in 1950 with Walter R. Garrison, who saw the need for engineers in aircraft and civil/architectural fields.
The first classes at our college focused on mathematics, stress analysis, and other technical subjects, with students being taught in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. The programs continued being offered there until 1982, when more space was needed and P.I.T. moved to Media, Pennsylvania.
P.I.T. now offers 12 two-year associate degrees, three bachelor’s degrees, and four one-year career certificate programs, all designed to give students the expertise they need to thrive in their careers.
