Cross & Passion College
Admissions
I am delighted to welcome you to Cross and Passion College, a unique place with a long tradition of academic excellence and service to the community since 1913.
Moving from primary school to post-primary school is a major step in the lives of all children and I am mindful that this year has brought particular disruption to pupils in Primary 6 and Primary 7.
Transfer can also be a very exciting time, not only for the child but for parents, and indeed the whole family, as they share a major milestone in their lives.
These pages are designed to inform you as to the wonderful opportunities that are available in the College and if you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Principal

Experiences
Sorin McMullan
Sorin’s schooldays began at St Mary’s on Rathlin Island.  This lovely girl describes life on Rathlin as being at a
slower
pace, but says that it is a brilliant place in which to grow up. She has become more aware of the importance of environmental protection - particularly wildlife.  She has two younger sisters and three dogs.  Sorin keeps fit by attending the gym, and she also enjoys listening to music.  Family holidays abroad have instilled an interest in travel; she wants to continue her experiences of other cultures and traditions. When deciding on a secondary school, there was no decision to be made!  Her memories of visiting CPC were that it was so warm and welcoming, the pupils had so much respect for their school and were proud of it.  Sorin loves her school community; there are opportunities for everyone and your voice gets listened to.  She also has positive memories of lockdown learning, and enjoyed the live history classes when she was in KS3.  Her favourite subjects are business studies, geography and biology. Sorin wants to go to university and study a degree in a business-related discipline.
Liam Glackin
Liam began his school life at St Patrick’s, Loughgiel. He is the youngest in his family, and has two older sisters. His mum is also a former pupil. Sport was definitely one of the main reasons Liam came to CPC. But, because his friends were coming, and it had a good reputation academically, the decision wasn’t difficult. This modest and talented young man loves sport and plays football and hurling, the latter for club, school and county. Liam’s sporting career has seen him play on winning McNamee and Leonard Cup teams. More recently he was a member of the Mageean team. He is a keen skier, and enjoys gliding down the slopes in France. Liam describes CPC as a tight-knit school with a great sense of community. He is enjoying the sporting opportunities, has made numerous friends and is excelling academically. Liam’s favourite subjects are maths, PE and geography. In the years ahead, Liam would like to go to university to study physiotherapy or sports rehabilitation. He is a keen traveller and has already visited various parts of Europe, including Spain, France and Italy.
Áine Franey
Áine is a past pupil of Gaelscoil an Chaistil. She has three younger brothers, two dogs and two chickens who lay when they feel like it! Coming to CPC was an easy decision. Áine lives a stone’s throw away. Importantly, though, the school’s reputation for sport and academic excellence, in the local and wider community, were the main reasons she came. She clearly remembers her first day - the nerves and excitement. Within a week, she felt like she was at home, safe and secure! Áine is a talented Irish dancer, athlete and musician. She dances for the Lír School, plays camogie, and is about to embark on Grade 6 piano examination. Áine can also play the fiddle and tin whistle (the latter at Grade 8). She loves CPC, its sport, its community, and the chances she is getting to excel academically. She was the Top Girl in Year 9! Her favourite subjects are art, PE and maths; some day she is hoping to study one (or all) at university. Áine is a fluent Irish speaker and practises with her younger brothers! Every year, she enjoys family holidays in France.
Pádaí O'Kane
Pádaí is one of Dunloy’s greatest ambassadors. His schooldays began at St Joseph’s. He is the only boy and second youngest in a family of five.  Pádaí has had no regrets about coming to CPC - it is a very good school; he has gained many new friends, and all the teachers and pupils are so friendly.  Pádaí describes CPC as a truly welcoming, safe and warm community.  He is a passionate sportsman; he just loves sport!  He plays hurling for club and school, Gaelic for his club, and soccer for Ballymena United.  Pádaí says sport gets him out of the house, keeps him fit and makes him
really
happy.  He enjoys all the fun and friendships he has made from his wide sporting network.  Pádaí’s proudest moment was when he won Player of the Tournament at Na Magha GAA Club.  He also met two of his heroes: Peter Canavan, Tyrone footballer and Patrick Horgan, Cork hurler.  Pádaí’s ambitions are to either play hurling for Antrim or become a professional soccer player. Despite his hectic sporting schedule, Pádaí enjoys learning; his favourite subjects are PE, ICT, drama and science.
Eobha McAllister
Eobha is a modest and talented Dunloy girl through and through. She has a younger sister, a dog, horse and pony. Eobha is an accomplished horserider but still has time for camogie and athletics. She is a member of Ballymena & Antrim Athletics’ Club. This powerful little lady has already come third in Ulster and ninth in All-Ireland athletics. There’s more! Eobha made it to the All-Ireland camogie final with Antrim Under 16s, and has been selected for our school’s senior team at the age of 15! PE is Eobha’s favourite subject. Eobha chose CPC because of its sporting credentials and academic excellence. Eobha remembers being worried about getting lost on her first day. But, she says she need not have worried: she settled in quickly and made lots of new friends. Eobha loves CPC and says that the teachers are very pleasant, and there are endless opportunities to get involved in sport. She has met Irish runner and European champion, Ciara Mageean. Ciara watch out! Eobha is hot on your heels! One day it is Eobha’s dream to work in the equine industry.
Greater Choice
At Cross and Passion College, pupils in Years 11 to 14 enjoy the benefits of a very close collaborative arrangement with Ballycastle High School, which enables both schools to offer a greater choice and a broad, balanced curriculum. This arrangement ensures that all of our young people are challenged, and offers them opportunities to study subjects from a wide range of specialisms.
Enhanced Opportunities
The partnership is now well established and is deeply embedded in the life of both schools. More than 300 pupils from both schools share lessons on a day-to-day basis.
mutual respect
The partnership promotes and nurtures mutual respect and understanding, as well as community cohesion. The commitment to sharing can be traced back as far as the 1960s.
Proposed new campus
An exciting capital programme will provide an up to date shared campus with two new core schools and a shared education facility on one site. Planning for this exciting project is already underway.
