Student 2025/26 MBChB Year 1
My journey began with the ambition of joining a university close to my businesses and residence, for easier supervision and home support.
Stepping into
EQUSaT
Medical School felt like entering a new world, filled with excitement at how good the learning environment is. This immediately drew me closer to and more focused on the primary reasons I had for choosing
EQUSaT
. I received a warm welcome, and the orientation guidelines made me reflect deeply on the beauty of the course and how much preparedness it requires.
However, some information shared was rather frightening, especially regarding how mountainous the journey ahead could be. A lot of worries arose when we thought about two things:
The amount of time and concentration required for our books and the burden of tuition fees, which can be troublesome to raise while balancing the time needed in class.
It was said, “The University will never allow you to sit for exams if you haven’t reached their required percentage of fees or completed the total balance.” This left me worried, because money is seasonal and our businesses are not always reliable. But as the saying goes, “Zibula Atudde,” we shall keep pushing until our last breath.
Despite these challenges, our goal is to persevere and achieve this important milestone in education, and I believe we shall succeed.
Lastly, I still recall the guided tour we had on Friday, 15th August 2025. It was wonderful, though full of ironies. We got lost in a very large plot of land in Bajja, searching for a route to take us to “Eden”, a promised garden said to be full of fruits. Everyone walked to the point of exhaustion, trying to reach this “promised land.” Unfortunately, just like the children of Israel who walked endlessly without reaching their promised land, we too could not make it. But unlike them, we decided not to die in the desert. Instead, we retraced our steps, found where the Costa was waiting, and made it back to campus safely.
In brief, we know there are challenges ahead. The road is not easy. Long study hours, complex concepts, and high expectations can be daunting. Balancing academics with personal life will always be a juggling act. Yet, with each challenge, we must remain resilient and focused.
In conclusion:
Being a medical student is a transformative experience. It shapes not only your knowledge but also your character. It is a journey of empathy, resilience, and dedication. Together, and with the support of the University and the community, we shall endure and succeed.

My time at
Equator University of Science and technology
while not long has given me a glimpse into the life I'm to experience in the years to come. A life filled with kind and polite individuals that share more than we hoped for coming into a university, sharing not only educational aspects but day to day aspects as well through tales that make you question  your life in the best possible ways and occasionally breakout in fits of laughter.
I came to Equator University looking for  exclusively an education and ended up with a large family of friends and staff that have guided and offered support throughout my stay here at each and every turn.

Nalwanga Noelina
Student 2025/26 MBChB Year 1
As I prepared to join university, I was anxious about stepping into a new world. Having spent over five years in the medical field, I thought it would be easy until I saw an 8:00 am lecture, my usual waking time! My warm first visit made me expect a bed of roses, but reality was different. Competent, parental lecturers, a great environment, a fully equipped library, and supportive course mates eased my worries until a 6:00 pm lecture arrived. Balancing school, parenting, and work is challenging, but with faith, nothing is impossible. I’m here to grow and achieve more.
