Genealogical Library
The Thomasville Genealogical Library is now housed on the Forbes Campus of Thomas University. Founded in 1988 by Marguerite Neel Williams, the Library was originally housed in the former “East Side School,” now known as the Thomasville Center for the Arts. In 1997, the Library moved to 135 N. Broad Street, which formerly housed both the Thomasville Post Office and the Thomas County Public Library.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 11am to 6pm.
Genealogy Library will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Patrons may access census records, military records, immigration records, cemetery survey indexes, church records, surname books, biographical sketches, funeral records, genealogical periodicals, Revolutionary War pension files, Confederate and Union Compiled Service Records, tax rolls, marriage records, state and county histories, and much more. free of charge at one of the facility’s computer stations. The Thomasville Genealogical Library has recently been designated as a
FamilySearch Affiliate Library
. Researchers can now access locked collections on their personal devices through FamilySearch.

Access to the Genealogical Library is free to the public, during open hours.
Genealogical requests can be submitted via email to the Executive Director. Please send a detailed email and/or the Research Request Form. Questions about requests can be emailed or call Lillian Wingate directly at 229-227-6893. The fee for research is $50 per hour. This includes digital copies of materials/records located. In the event additional research time is needed, the individual will be contacted. Research payments are to be paid in advance and can be mailed to:
