Sultana's Dream
Sultana's Dream is a pioneering feminist sci-fic novel authored by Rokeya
S. Hossain, a woman from conservative Muslim family, who had no formal education. The
story describes a fictional ladyland of the future with green urbanscapes where people
travel by helicopter, use solar power and, most significantly, women are running the
affairs of the state and society. This dreamland offered a totally new and different
angle for women to see themselves and the world and to widen their horizon. Sultana's
Dream and Rokeya have become synonymous with women's liberation in the subcontinent and
beyond.

বজলুর রহমানের জন্ম ১৯৪১ সালের ৩ আগস্ট ময়মনসিংহ জেলায়। তিনি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অর্থনীতি বিভাগ থেকে স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি লাভ করেন। ঢাকা অধ্যয়নকালে তিনি ছাত্র রাজনীতির সঙ্গে যুক্ত হন। তিনি ৬২-এর ছাত্র আন্দোলন, ৬৬-এর ৬দফা, ৬৮-৬৯-এর গণঅভ্যূত্থান মুক্তিযুদ্ধ, সামরিক শাসন ও স্বৈরাচার বিরোধী আন্দোলনে যুক্ত ছিলেন, যদিও তিনি সম্মুখ রাজনীতিতে যুক্ত না থেকে রাজনীতির নেপথ্য সংগঠক এবং বিশ্লেষকের ভূমিকা পালন করেন। ১৯৬১ সালে তিনি সহকারী সম্পাদক হিসেবে যোগ দেন দৈনিক সংবদ-এ, এবং পরবর্তীতে খুব অল্পসময় বাদে আমৃত্যু নিষ্ঠার সাথে সংবাদ-এর সম্পাদক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন, তিনি ছিলন সৎ, নির্ভিক ও দায়িত্বশীল সাংবাদিকতার প্রতীক। তিনি কমিউনিস্ট পার্টির মুক্তিযুদ্ধকালীন মুখপত্র ‘মুক্তিযুদ্ধ’ সম্পাদনা করেন। তিনি কমিউনিস্ট পার্টির..
