March 2025
In the first quarter, I saw my 12-year-old son with ADHD reading Jack London's “The Call of the Wild” for school. Immediately, I could see him giving up after the first few pages and settling for a summary on the internet. When I heard about this adaptation project, I almost cried: my son needs this!

I have been tutoring middle school students for nearly six years, and let me tell you, Les Misérables brings more than a few to tears every year. Lou, 15, who can recite all the characteristics of a shark, struggles to concentrate when it comes to reading. A very simplified version would be great! (...) We often think that rigor rhymes with austerity, but no, it's about making beauty accessible.
