Community Member Reflection on BCAM’s International Trip to China
A recent community member who accompanied BCAM students, teachers, and families on the international trip to China shared the following reflection on the experience:
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to join BCAM high school students, teachers, and families on the recent international trip to China. It was a truly remarkable and unforgettable cultural experience.
From the start, the thoughtful planning and consistent communication stood out. Every detail was clearly considered, ensuring that students, parents, and chaperones felt informed, prepared, and supported throughout the journey. The trip offered far more than travel—it provided meaningful cultural learning that allowed students to grow beyond the classroom.
One particularly special moment was meeting Ms. Fan’s family, which offered an authentic and personal connection to the culture and brought learning to life in a powerful way. The tour guides were exceptional as well, demonstrating impressive knowledge, organization, and flexibility. Each day ran smoothly, and the group was well cared for in every respect.
Most impressive was the care shown to the students. The teachers demonstrated extraordinary dedication—attentive, protective, and deeply committed to student well‑being and growth. The mutual respect between students and staff spoke volumes about the strong culture within the BCAM community.
It was also incredibly powerful to witness a group of students of color traveling internationally with confidence, curiosity, and cultural pride. Students supported one another, engaged respectfully with new environments, and bravely practiced their language skills. Their unity and growth in a global setting were truly inspiring.
This experience highlighted the heart, effort, and care that BCAM educators bring to their work. Their impact extends far beyond the classroom, and they deserve recognition for the meaningful opportunities they create for students.
I am grateful to have been part of this journey and to have witnessed firsthand the dedication of the staff and the brilliance of the students.
