The cadets had an incredible weekend in Okehampton, taking on the Wyvern Challenge, the South West’s premier military skills competition and a key selection event for the 2027 Cambrian Patrol.
Our 8 Cadets all put in outstanding performances across two demanding days. Covering 10–15km each day over the rugged terrain of Dartmoor, they faced 13 tough stands including section attacks, first aid scenarios, STEM challenges and military knowledge tests.
Their effort and determination paid off with an impressive 2nd place finish against strong CCF competition 🥈
Even more encouraging, our younger cadets gained invaluable experience, building confidence and setting the stage for even greater success next year.
A fantastic achievement all round 👏

Recently, two of our Year 9 drama enthusiasts travelled to King’s Gloucester to compete in the ESU Performing Shakespeare competition.🎭 Both delivered confident and captivating performances; one presenting a powerful piece from Much Ado About Nothing, the other a moving extract from The Two Noble Kinsmen. Impressing judges and audience alike.
We are proud to share that one of our students has been selected for the regional final, a fantastic and well-deserved achievement.🌟 A huge congratulations to both students and to our dedicated Drama Department, whose passion and support continue to enrich and inspire the Bredon community.💚

Bredon proudly hosted the Open and ISA National Clay Pigeon Shooting Finals at Mount Oliver Shooting Ground in Hartpury for the second consecutive year, following the event’s successful launch in 2025.
The competition continues to grow in both scale and reputation, with 84 students from 14 schools across the country coming together to compete. It provides a valuable platform for students to develop their skills, experience competitive shooting, and represent their schools at a national level.
Highlights included exceptional performances across both the girls’ and mixed team categories, reflecting the high standard of competition throughout the day. The girls’ team retained their ISA National title and secured their first Open victory, while the mixed team achieved a strong joint third-place finish in the ISA category. These results underline Bredon’s overall success at the event, with impressive individual scores and consistent performances across the teams.
With plans to expand further, the Bredon School Open and ISA National Finals is quickly establishing itself as a key event in the schools’ shooting calendar.

Our CCF cadets recently completed an adventure training exercise on the River Wye, paddling from Ross-on-Wye to Kerne Bridge, a journey of around six kilometres.🚣♂️
With the river running high and fast, it proved to be a challenging but hugely rewarding experience for everyone involved.
The exercise was a fantastic opportunity for our cadets to develop teamwork, leadership and resilience — all core values of our Combined Cadet Force.
