A Culture of
Innovation
THINK
APPLY
CONNECT
Classes at Innovation focus on higher-order
critical thinking skills
, emphasizing depth of understanding over breadth of knowledge.
Systems Thinking tools
are used throughout the curriculum to help students understand the complex relationships and
dynamic processes
that govern so many of the most fundamental problems our world is facing.
Students apply their thinking to concrete problems throughout the curriculum, working on hands-on projects and presenting their most polished work to a public audience at
quality nights
and
jury day
s in the middle school and at
presentations of learning
and
exhibition nights
in the high school.
Teachers emphasize
interdisciplinary connections
to help students understand how problem-solving techniques cross the boundaries of traditional disciplines and departments. An emphasis on
group work
and
team building
helps students learn that making connections between diverse experiences and perspectives is a crucial skill in all disciplines.
Systems Thinking
Systems Thinking provides a toolkit for thinking critically about complex, dynamic problems.
"I may not be perfect, but IACS helped me find my imperfect self."
