Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The members of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) strive to improve the health of persons with disabling conditions and/or pain through excellent clinical care, teaching, and original research. The division endeavors to:
Improve quality of life through interdisciplinary teamwork and medical management, psychological support, optimizing physical function, and environmental modification.
Provide and continuously improve clinical care throughout the community, in the home, for outpatients, in skilled nursing facilities, and in acute and rehabilitation hospitals.
Educate medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians, allied health professionals, and members of the community.
Perform research in the basic and rehabilitation sciences, covering the areas of pathology, impairment, functional limitation, disability, and health services for persons with impairments or disabilities.
Advocate for and with persons with disabilities and their families on issues that will enhance their independence.
