The majority of students study away through Augustana faculty-led courses over January Interim (J-Term). Semester, year, spring break and summer program options are also available.
Augustana's approved study away programs offer a wide range of possibilities. Students can choose from more than 500 approved study away programs in 60+ countries, including the U.S.

Around the World With AU
Faculty-led programs are designed specifically for Augustana University students by Augustana faculty and take place all over the world. In a faculty-led program, students study, live and travel with other AU students and have the advantage of learning from an AU faculty member who specializes in the program’s subject of study. Each year, Augustana offers 10-15 courses during January Interim (J-Term), spring break and summer. The courses vary in location, topic and length of time away.
New AU Faculty-led courses are announced each February!
Sister school programs are based on agreements between Augustana University and foreign institutions. They are immersive experiences in which Augustana students take courses directly from the partner institution, get acquainted with the local culture and have weekends and holidays free to travel. While knowledge of the host language is useful, it is not always required. Many exchange courses are taught in English. Academic year, semester and summer terms are available. As with most study away programs, educational systems and levels of student services vary and will be different from what students are used to at AU. Students are encouraged to be independent and willing to seek out assistance at their host institution.
