This area of emphasis of Warnell's Fisheries and Wildlife program will get your feet wet—literally! Sample for fish on UGA's Lake Herrick or local rivers, take part in faculty research projects and find opportunities for internships with agencies and other aquatic specialists.

What you will learn
In this area of emphasis, students take courses in fisheries management, limnology, ichthyology, ecology, aquaculture, water quality, and fish physiology. Classes give students a solid footing to understand and manage aquatic systems.
Because fisheries and wildlife management involves humans interacting with our natural resources, we also require that our students have an understanding of economic and natural resources policies and laws. We also feel it’s essential for our students to receive training in spatial and population modeling, verbal and written communication, and decision-making in order to become successful fisheries and wildlife biologists.
