We take pride in seeing our students reach their fullest potential as they apply lifelong lessons from our Quaker educational program.
In the upper school at Friends Select, we welcome many of our own students from middle school, while also intentionally growing the upper school with students from area independent, public, and charter schools. As a school grounded in respect, finding the gifts that each individual brings to the community, and searching for truth, we have curated an educational program that balances support with challenge, seeing yourself in the curriculum and learning about others, and reflecting on our differences and commonalities.

In Friends Select’s upper school community, we take pride in seeing our students reach their fullest potential as they apply lifelong lessons from our Quaker educational program. This is evident within our academic departments, inside our classrooms, throughout our city, in extracurricular activities, and on student paths beyond our school.

A HOLISTIC APPROACH
At Friends Select, we work to support “the whole” of every student. As such, a broad program is offered incorporating academics, activities, athletics, service, and other areas. In addition, areas of student support are available covering students’ learning and social-emotional needs. Upper school is a time when students grow and develop from mid-adolescence to emerging adulthood. Students in the upper school have more choice and agency with regard to their academic programs, and more responsibility for governing their own behavior and interactions. With the shifts that happen and approaching the “next steps” of their lives, students benefit from services that support their success while allowing for the emergence of their independence and autonomy.
