Undergraduate Programs
The Center for Latin American Studies offers three types of undergraduate programs. Students can earn a minor in Latin American Studies, a certificate in Latin American Studies, or a combined BA/BS and MA in Latin American Studies. Students are also encouraged to browse study abroad opportunities offered by both the Center and the University of Florida.

Minor in Latin American Studies
The Latin American studies minor is an excellent option for those who wish to concentrate their work in a specific discipline yet maintain a Latin American focus in their coursework.

Certificate in Latin American Studies
The program is designed to supplement a major with broad regional, cultural, and language training appropriate for graduate work or a Latin America-related career in business, government or teaching.

Combined Degree
The Combined Degree program allows undergraduate students to complete a combined BA/BS and MA in Latin American Studies. This program facilitates talented students to develop their expertise in Latin American Studies, strengthen their preparation for future study and careers related to Latin America and the Caribbean, and enhance their marketability to potential employers.

Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate students enrolled in the Latin American Studies Minor or Certificate can opt for research immersion opportunities and are eligible for paid research. Alongside the Center for Undergraduate Research, there are two options to apply to: the Emerging Scholars Program (for freshmen and sophomores only) and the University Scholars Program.

Latin American Studies Major, Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS), College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS)
The Latin American Studies concentration within the CLAS interdisciplinary undergraduate major (IDS-LAS) offers UF students the opportunity to pursue individualized study in an increasingly important region of the world, making use of UF’s extraordinary resources.

A variety of study abroad programs are available to UF students. In addition, overseas study credits can count as core or elective courses if approved by the undergraduate advisor in the Center for Latin American Studies.
