OUR LOCATION
Set within a stunning 27-acre estate and surrounded by beautiful English countryside, the school offers an exceptional environment for learning and living. St Mary’s enjoys an ideal position on the edge of historic Calne, just south of the Cotswolds. With London and Heathrow Airport a little over an hour away and Oxford, Bath and Bristol close by, the school offers excellent accessibility.

Leafy Wiltshire
Our green and leafy campus may only be just over an hour from London, it is a world away from the noise and bustle of one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
Prehistorical Avebury, part of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage site, is only 15 minutes away. And unlike Stonehenge, visitors can stand right next to the stones at Avebury. The university cities of Oxford, Bristol and Bath are all nearby and we make use of all three, particularly in the Sixth Form. We also take advantage of the University of Bath’s excellent sport facilities, including its 50-metre swimming pool.

Boarders’ coach service
We offer an escorted coach service for boarders at half term holidays and exeats. Accompanied by staff, with stops at Chieveley (M4 Services), Reading (M4 Services) and London (Natural History Museum), the coach service is ideal for London-bound pupils. Our helpful transport team can provide transport advice and arrange taxis for Heathrow and other destinations.

Train and air travel
The UK’s major airport, Heathrow, is a short distance from Calne, with flights to and from every major city around the world. This makes air travel for school trips overseas, as well as flights home for our international pupils, easily accessible. Bristol Airport is 30 miles away and for families looking for a private jet location, Cotswold Airport near Cirencester is a short distance.
The school’s closest station at Chippenham, a 15-minute car journey, has frequent services to London Paddington, as well as Bristol, Bath, Oxford, with access to the extensive UK rail network.
Airport and rail transfers can be booked through the school’s transport service. We can arrange personal and shared taxis, minibuses and book spaces on our London coaches.

Day pupils’ minibus
We run our own daily minibus service with routes serving Marlborough, Pewsey Vale, Devizes, Melksham, Chippenham, Malmesbury and surrounding areas.
Routes are reviewed each year according to demand, so please let us know if you would be interested in transport from an area not currently served.
