Frequently Asked Questions
Lane Swimming:
Half of the pool will be divided into three lanes for those who prefer structured lane swimming.
Open Pool Area:
The other half of the pool will be available for general swimming and for families, ensuring a flexible and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Please Note:
These sessions are intended for lap swimming and family swimming; therefore, large floats and inflatables will not be available and cannot be brought to use.
Separate male and female group changing rooms with limited private cubicles.
A large disabled changing facility on the ground floor, which can be used by parents and children of any gender when free.
Please note there are no lockers available to use in the changing rooms or on poolside. Valuables are left in the changing rooms or on poolside at the owners own risk.
Children under 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult in both the water and changing rooms at all times.
Parents should use the changing room corresponding to their own gender when assisting their children (e.g., mothers with sons in the female changing room, fathers with daughters in the male changing room).
Children under 13 must be accompanied on site by a responsible adult (someone over 18) at all times.
Children aged 13 and above may attend a booking without adult supervision provided they are competent swimmers.
Qualified lifeguards are on duty when the pool is in use, trained in rescue techniques, CPR, and first aid. Lifeguards can be identified by their uniform and are stationed at specific points.
During a session, they are responsible for:
Checking attendee bookings on arrival at the swimming pool and managing general enquiries.
Overseeing sessions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all attendees in the pool and changing rooms.
Conducting pool water tests to meet health and safety standards, including maintaining proper levels of chlorine and pH.
Keeping the pool and surrounding areas clean and hazard-free, following regular cleaning schedules.
Performing reactive cleaning to ensure changing rooms, showers, and toilets are clean and hygienic.
We strongly encourage all visitors to consider how they travel to our site, and to choose active travel or public transport wherever possible.
Roads around Alleyn's are subject to a range of traffic and parking control measures including timed restrictions, so please pay careful attention to road signage and directions. In particular:
The junction on Townley Road and East Dulwich Grove is not available to cars in certain directions
between 8:00am to 9:00am
and
3:00pm to 4:30pm.
Southwark Council manages two different Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) covering roads around the Senior and Junior School entrances. These areas are regularly patrolled by traffic wardens.
