Preparing for the Next Era of Sovereignty
"In the early days of the Tribal College Movement, tribal leaders, members, and supporters rewrote the history of Indian education. They changed education from a tool of assimilation, used to erase Indian identity, into an opportunity to protect, preserve, and advance Indigenous ways of knowing and doing. Over the past 50 years, TCUs have grown as modern expressions of tribal sovereignty and self-determination, rooted in knowledge systems thousands of years old."

Rooted in Community: Stories of Transformation Through Teacher Education
"At CMN, Tanya found that she had become a part of something more than just a degree program. She found a model of support and education rooted in culture that reflected the values that she wanted to bring to her classrooms and her community, a model that honored her culture, helped guide her in balancing her responsibilities as a working professional and parent, and connected her to other like-minded future teachers and peers who understood her journey."
