American Archives Month
October is American Archives Month -- a time to celebrate and embrace our past as we look to the future. Each year, the Nevada State Archives and repositories all over the country raise public awareness on the importance and value of historic documents, records, and the archival profession.

Nevada Archives Month
Previously observed as "Archives Week," the Nevada State Archives now celebrates the entire month of October. Since 2001, we have created a poster celebrating the records and archival collections that document the rich history of the Silver State.
We would like to thank the Nevada State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) and the National Historical Publications & Records Commission for sponsoring our poster every year.
Archives Month 2025
2025 - All For Our Country
This year, Nevada commemorates the 250th birthday of the U.S. armed forces and recognizes the armed forces' essential role in the founding of our nation. When Nevada became a state in 1864, Nevadans stood ready to give "All for Our Country." This became the state motto and inspired the theme for Archives Month 2025.

2022 - Preserving Fragile Formats for the Future
Legacy formats can pose preservation challenges to archival repositories. Each poster highlights a specific endangered format held at the Nevada State Archives: dry process glass plate negatives, dictabelt recordings, floppy disks, and a variety of tapes. The posters are designed so that, if they’re displayed end-to-end, they’ll create what appears to be a strip of film.

Recognizing the Sesquicentennial of the Nevada State Capitol building. The structure is still in use by Nevada’s constitutional officers 150 years after being constructed is a testament to the skill of the original builders, as well as to everyone who had the foresight to protect and preserve the Capitol over the years.
