We are taking our first steps with our new strategic plan, which will guide us as we chart our path toward our upcoming centennial. Over the summer, our leadership team outlined this important work, and we’ve formed working groups around each of the plan’s four pillars: Academic Programming, Signature Programs, Community Engagement, and Sustainable Growth.

It is with immense excitement that we unveil The Elisabeth Morrow School’s new strategic plan — a reflection of our shared values, strengths, and commitment to continuous growth. Grounded in mission and enriched by the collective wisdom of our community, it charts a purposeful and inspiring course as we approach our centennial.
Our strategic plan is structured around four pillars:
Academic Programs
,
Signature Programs
,
Community Engagement
, and
Sustainable Growth
. Each pillar outlines specific goals and initiatives that will drive our work for the coming years. We look forward to kicking off some of the work this summer and will provide an update in the fall. We encourage you to visit our

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Visioning Day on Jan. 25! Building on the rich discoveries from our focus groups, community survey, and conversations to frame our strategic plan, Visioning Day attendees explored opportunities and imagined new possibilities to elevate our school’s future and, working in small groups, helped to prioritize our goals, define actionable steps, and shape our shared vision for the school. The insights gleaned last weekend bring us closer to a strategic plan that ensures academic excellence and innovation, enriches the student experience both in and beyond the classroom, and safeguards our school through times of change and growth for generations to come.

Thank you to our current families, faculty, staff, and administrators, our alumni, and our parents of alumni who completed our communitywide survey, which closed last week. We are in the process of reviewing the results and look forward to sharing our insights as our strategic planning progresses.

We were thrilled to see the great turnout of community members at our eighth annual
State of the School
address on Nov. 22. During the event, Head of School Marek Beck, Ph.D., shared updates on all aspects of community life as well as our vision for the future of EMS, including key insights from our strategic planning process. Attendees also heard from students across all three divisions, who highlighted aspects of their learning. For those who were unable to attend, a recording will be available in early December.

Last week, we welcomed our partners from Crane + Peters to campus to tour our facilities, visit classrooms, and engage in insightful conversations with many members of our community. In the coming weeks, C+P will synthesize their findings and collaborate closely with school leadership to develop the next steps in our journey together.

Crane + Peters, the strategic planning and communications firm helping us map out the development of our next strategic plan, will be on campus on Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct. 8, to conduct focus groups. Thank you to all who will be participating! We look forward to engaging the full community in our next planning step when our survey launches in November.
