I’m the new Executive Director of KiDiMu! I am looking forward to meeting you soon!  Please don’t hestitate to stop by the office, give me a call or email me to chat about how we can best support children and families in and around Kitsap County. KiDiMu is a hub for early childhood development, creating experiences centered on playful learning that supports the broader community and children’s current and emerging needs. We serve Kitsap County families through engaging museum programming, enhanced exhibits, and a safe, nurturing space where children can grow, discover, and be inspired! The vision of KiDiMu sparking joy, curiousity and creativity through play is evident when watching and listening to how kids interact with the exhibits.   One of my favorite exhibits is by far the giant Lite-Brite!  As a child, I would play, create, and design for hours with my little Lite-Brite.  I also really love watching the way kids play with golf balls on the magnet wall.  And, of course my love of animals makes the vet office a clear favorite!  I am excited to start adding  my neurodiverity-affirming flair to exhibits!  Look for some changes in the coming months! One of my favorite events at KiDiMu has to be the Dia de los Muertos event that we co-host with BIMA.  The 4-hour event begins at 11 am with a delightful procession of children dressed as butterflies, leading guests along a flower-lined path into KiDimu.  At the heart of the celebration is a traditional ofrenda where visitors are invited to add mementos and stories honoring loved ones who have passed on. Guests have the option to try champurrado (traditional Mexican hot chocolate) and pan de muerto , participate in make-and-take art activities, receive traditional face painting, and listen to musicians performing Mexican folk songs.  This is an event that brings me so much joy to participate in and witness.  Please say hi when you see me there November 1st Peggy Frisbie Chief Experience Organizer Hello@Kidimu.org Peggy Frisbie Chief Experience Organizer Hello@Kidimu.org Jen Wilson Budget Biologist Billing@Kidimu.org Layne Wheeler Creativity & Discovery Scientist Layne Wheeler Creativity & Discovery Scientist Shawn Miller Play & Learning Engineer Preschool@Kidimu.org Shawn Miller Play & Learning Engineer Preschool@Kidimu.org Maia Kennedy Neurodiversity Navigator & Sensory Scientist Maia Kennedy Neurodiversity Navigator & Sensory Scientist Ash Clark Wonder Wrangler Ash Clark Wonder Wrangler Chase Imagination Pilot Chase Imagination Pilot Tehya Discovery Guide Tehya Discovery Guide Skyler Museum Explorer Assistant Dragon Creative Experience Artist Luke Tidiness Technician Luke Tidiness Technician Reggie Paw-sitive Energy Scientist Reggie Paw-sitive Energy Scientist Cosey Adventure Puppy in Training Cosey Adventure Puppy in Training Board of Cosmic Navigators Our board members are the guiding stars of KiDiMu, blending strategy, vision, and generosity to keep our learning lab orbiting smoothly. This commitment has shaped my career and now inspires my service on the KiDiMu board. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communication from American University in Washington, D.C., I joined Teach For America and taught high school English Language Arts in a small town on the Texas-Mexico border. This experience left a lasting impression on me and reinforced the critical importance of high-quality education—both inside and outside the classroom. I went on to continue my teaching career in Florida and Washington. In addition to my years in the classroom, I combined my passion for education and youth development through roles as a career counselor with Job Corps and with a workforce development nonprofit. In these positions, I supported job seekers by providing training services and helping individuals take steps toward self-sufficiency through employment. In 2022, my husband and I relocated our family to Bainbridge Island for his Navy service. Since then, I’ve enjoyed exploring the museum with our three children, facilitating the MiniMu program, and experiencing the enrichment KiDiMu offers. I am thrilled to be part of the board and contribute to the museum’s mission of inspiring creativity and learning in our community. The suq̀ʷabš live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years. Here, the suq̀ʷabš live and protect the land and waters of their ancestors for future generations as promised by the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855. We honor and respect the resilience of the indigenous community and the land upon which we sit.
