Year 10 Innovators: Entrepreneurship in Business Finance & Law
Year 10 Business, Finance and Law students were recently set a valuable task to bring a failed business back to market through new innovations, products and services, with a focus on new and emerging technologies to meet evolving consumer demands in the digital age.
Students were tasked with designing a new product or service for their chosen business, outlining its features and benefits with a focus on digital innovation. This included creating a new company logo, branding, slogan, mission, and vision statement.
South Australian Entrepreneur Ty Cheeseman, the Co-Founder of ‘A STANDUP Company’, presented his product to our students. In collaboration with his partners, Ty invented an original, multipurpose, and portable smartphone stand, changing the face of paper marketing and the smartphone experience.
“The STANDUP represented the idea we discussed in class, which is that entrepreneurship starts with a problem that needs to be solved,” says teacher Damian Creazzo.
“The design was well planned and designed sustainably, making it reusable and recyclable. It’s fantastic for customers to multitask, preventing accidents from happening when holding your phone,” said student Jordan Aldridge.
The presentation provided students with a clear example of an entrepreneur in real life, their design, how the ‘Design, Thinking, Process’ theory learnt in class can be implemented within a product or service and how the importance of an entrepreneur’s personal characteristics is required to be successful.
