STEM
At GAC, we offer over 60 STEM courses to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex issues of the 21
st
century.
STEM students imagine and create within GAC's rich and rigorous liberal arts program. We believe that a curriculum providing tools for problem-solving, analysis, and communication is vital to all parts of the K-12 educational experience.
Tomorrow’s leaders must be more than mere number-crunchers and fact-checkers. GAC’s STEM education promotes creativity and innovation. Students at GAC build a firm foundation to act wisely, live compassionately, think critically, and lead effectively.

SPARK
Nasmyth Environmental Center
As part of their science curriculum, 4th grade students learn the intricacies of the solar system, stars, light, sound, gravity, motion, and forces. They also engage in applied chemistry through their forensic chemistry unit.  Fifth graders explore conservation of matter, chemical/physical changes, electricity and magnetism, classification of organisms, cells and microorganisms, engineering design, coding/robotics, and the periodic table.
In
SPARK
, students gain mastery of laptop use, keyboarding, digital citizenship, use of Google Drive, Microsoft Word, research skills, Microsoft Powerpoint, coding, and engineering basics. As they advance to 5th grade, they increase their technical, research, presentation, and coding skills, as well as learn 3D design.
The
Nasmyth Environmental Center
provides the optimal environment for learning about the weather, ecosystems, food webs, adaptations, gardening, creation, trout management, vermicomposting, chickens, and aquaponics. As students advance to 5th grade, they learn about constructive and destructive land forces, inheritance of traits, and learned behaviors. Other topics addressed include gardening, nutrient cycling, and nutrition.
