Students in Psychology are building a strong foundation for a career in almost any industry
With professors who are leaders in their fields, on-the-ground training in supervised internships, and access to an active community of industry professionals both in and outside the classroom, you’ll learn the necessary skills and gain the practical experience to forge a path in whatever direction you dream—whether that’s in clinical services, or beyond.
Outcomes
Prepare for
an impactful career
This program provides a solid foundation for future graduate studies in areas such as clinical, forensic, developmental, school, counseling, and experimental and industrial-organizational psychology. When combined with a broad program of other courses, it can also prepare students for future careers in a variety of fields from experimental research to business and law.
Real World Skills
Programs combine methodological and theoretical courses with fieldwork that focuses on the development of applied skills.
Education For Life
Classes and course materials prepare students for a lifetime of learning, critical thinking, and responsible action.
Community
Passionate teachers and committed alumni can help students build bridges into careers at some of the most prestigious institutions in the country.
Goals & Objectives
Train students for lifelong learning, thinking and action by providing an education which teaches psychology’s knowledge base, scientific methodology, interpersonal skills and ethics
Prepare majors who will enter careers in human services, business, education and other applied fields to be competent, and caring professionals.
Prepare students who will continue their education in advanced study to be culturally sensitive, well-prepared and creative graduate students
Provide students with coursework and extracurricular activities that enhance their knowledge and appreciation of psychology
Encourage faculty to support and carry out departmental goals in an atmosphere
Institutes and Centers
All students are encouraged to get involved with the centers, helping to research and present at conferences. St. Francis College hosts three cutting edge centers devoted to fields of Psychology:
The Institute for International & Cross-Cultural Psychology (IICCP)
Social Psychology Research Lab
The Center for the Study of Pinniped Ecology and Cognition (C-SPEC)
Combined Masters and Bachelor’s Degree
Students who excel in their undergraduate studies can apply for the new combined Masters and Bachelors Degree in Applied Behavioral Psychology. Classes include Advanced Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Behavioral Assessment. This program prepares students for more advanced job placements upon graduation, or can provide an extra year of preparation for application to doctoral programs.
