Health and Wellness
Welcome to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Wellness Center.
Our mission is to maintain a safe and healthy campus. We understand the student’s health plays a critical role in their academic success and in achieving their ultimate goals.
The Wellness Center is an on-campus doctor’s office away from home. We are available to current enrolled students of the Prescott Campus. Our team is composed of registered nurses, a registered dietitian, two physicians and a medical assistant. We are contracted with an orthopedic surgeon in Prescott for orthopedic needs.
For the Fall 2022 semester and until further notice, the Wellness Center will provide COVID-19 tests for any member of our campus community who is symptomatic. If non-symptomatic students or employees wish to be tested for any other reason, they may seek tests from any off-campus provider (e.g. Spectrum, CVS, Walgreens).
If you do not feel well, do not come to work or classes. Faculty are asked to be understanding of this and reasonably accommodate students who do not come to class because they are not feeling well.
Be respectful of others in our community who choose to take additional measures (such as wearing masks) to protect their personal health.
We strongly encourage everyone in our campus community to always practice good hygiene to stop the spread of communicable disease. This includes distancing when appropriate, frequent handwashing, coughing into your elbow, and wear masks as appropriate.
Students who fail to follow anything in these guidelines that is stated as an expectation will be referred to the Dean of Students Office for possible disciplinary action under the Standards of Student Conduct.
Employees who fail to follow anything in these guidelines stated as an expectation will be referred to HR.
A student’s medical information, will be treated as confidential and private and will only be disclosed to university personnel responsible for the public health of our campuses.
Flu Shots
Flu Shot Clinics will be announced later this fall.
Monkeypox
A helpful comparison: although monkeypox and chickenpox are caused by different viruses, they both result in temporary skin rashes that typically get better and clear up on their own. Most individuals who are infected with monkeypox will recover within a few weeks, without the need for treatment.
Monkeypox is spread by close contact and exposure to an infected person's rash, skin lesions, respiratory secretions (during prolonged, face-to-face contact or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex), other bodily fluids, or material (clothes/bedding) contaminated with the virus. Close personal contact, sexual or not, could cause a person to become infected.

Prospective Flight and Air Traffic Control students should be aware that certain sensory impairments, medical, neurobiological, and psychological conditions, and prescription medications might delay or preclude FAA medical certification. Students should discuss these issues with an aviation medical examiner to ensure they are eligible to participate in instruction.
Students must go to the
FAA MedXPress
webpage for paperwork before their appointment with an FAA examiner.
Students may also contact the Wellness Center staff for information regarding eligibility for certification. FAA medical examiners can be located through
Flight Physical
or
AME Locator
.
The Wellness Center does not operate a clinical medical laboratory. However, blood and other specimens are collected here with medical orders. Specimens are routinely sent to LabCorp for analysis.
It is the student's responsibility to know if their insurance requires a specific lab provider and what lab tests will be covered under their insurance policy. Students are responsible for any unpaid laboratory bills. Each student must have a good understanding of their insurance policy coverage to prevent unnecessary changes.
Additionally, Embry-Riddle's Health & Wellness Center will provide free taxi rides to and from off-campus medical appointments. Calls for taxi rides must come from the Wellness Center.
All students attending classes must complete all Embry-Riddle health requirements. This ensures that students in class are properly immunized. If you have private insurance, you will be responsible for payment at the time of service for all immunizations. Receipts will be given for insurance reimbursement. Students with the University insurance will have no co-pay.
For more information and to view our list of required immunizations, visit our
Immunizations Page

ERAU requires all students to carry health insurance. Students who do not have their own insurance can participate in the school sponsored health insurance program.
