Content Overview
If you hold a Singapore driving licence or a provisional driving licence, you will need to be certified fit to continue to drive when you are reaching 65 years of age.
Important Changes:
This e-Service will be decommissioned on 30 April 2026.
Medical practitioners will be able to submit your medical report on your behalf from 2 February 2026. See Section 1.1 for details.
1.1 How to Be Certified Fit to Drive?
If you hold a valid driving licence, you will receive instructions in the mail 10 weeks before your 65th birthday to undergo a medical examination by a Singapore-registered medical practitioner at a clinic that offers the 'Fitness To Drive' medical examination so that you can be certified fit to continue to drive.
New Digital Process - Harmonised Medical Examination Report (HMER)
Your medical examination will now be conducted using the Harmonised Medical Examination Report (HMER) system. Simply bring your notification letter to any registered clinic that offers the 'Fitness To Drive' medical examination. The examining doctor will complete and submit your medical report digitally on your behalf—you no longer need to upload documents yourself.
You will receive an SMS acknowledgement upon submission, followed by outcome notifications from the Traffic Police.
Transition Period - Manual Submission Option
During the transition period following the launch of the digital HMER, Driving Licence holders and Vocational Licence holders/applicants can still submit their scanned medical examination reports via the e-service portal if needed.
For manual submission via e-service
Ensure that the completed medical examination report you receive from the medical practitioner:
Indicates “fit/unfit”.
Has the boxes in Part B (Medical History) and Part C (General Medical Examination) checked.
Is signed and fully endorsed by the medical practitioner who conducted the medical examination, is dated and is stamped with the clinic stamp.
