INTRODUCTION
As per UGC Guidelines for establishment of Research & Development Cell in Higher Education Institutions 2022
One of the aims of the research and development cell is to foster a research culture in the university by promoting research in newly emerging and challenging frontier areas of Science and Technology, Humanities, Education, and Commerce & Management.
The objective of the research and development cell is to encourage the faculty and students to conduct research in important emerging frontier areas, including multidisciplinary/transdisciplinary and translational research culture mandated in NEP 2020. In addition, R & D cells also encourage them to have a rational approach in their academic activities.
VISION
To put in place a robust mechanism for developing and strengthening the research ecosystem in the University, aligned with the provisions of NEP-2020.
MISSION
• To create a conductive environment for enhanced research productivity.
• To encourage collaboration across industry, government, community- based organizations, and agencies at the local, national, and international levels.
• To facilitate greater access to research through mobilization of resources and funding.
OBJECTIVES
1) To create an organizational structure with role-based functions of RDC, formulate Research Policy, identify thrust areas of research, and form related cluster groups/ frontline teams/consortia of researchers.
2) To create enabling provisions in Research Policies for recruitment of research personnel, procurement of equipment, and financial management with adequate autonomy to the Principal Investigator(s) and disseminate research outcomes to stakeholders and the public at large.
3) To establish a potential collaborator from industry, research organizations, academic institutions, other stakeholders for cooperation and synergistic partnerships.
4) To act as a liaison between researchers & relevant research funding agencies, extend guidance in preparation & submission of project proposals and post- sanctioning of the grants to oversee adherence to timelines.
5) To have better coordination among other cells/centers dealing with University- Industry Inter Linkage, Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
6) To develop an Institutional Research Information System for sharing the status of ongoing/ completed research projects/Programmes, expertise & resources, etc., making effective use of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for preparing the database of in-house experts to provide industrial consultancy and services.
7) To engage & utilize the services of superannuated active faculty/scientists in research capacity building of talented young minds and promote mobility of researchers across institutions and R&D Laboratories.
8) To serve as nodal center for ideation and conceptualization of research topics/themes by organizing workshops and training programs and ensuring the integrity and ethical practices in research activities including clearance of bioethical committee wherever required.
9) To help facilitate strengthening of the University research capabilities; proactively promote basic research and monitor quality of research work done.
FUNCTIONS
 The RDC will encourage to create a research ecosystem for reliable, impactful and sustained research output
 The RDC may provide strategies leadership for research in University
 The RDC may entrusted to encourage the development of interdisciplinary/collaborative research in the line with the University priorities
 The RDC may assist the academic departments and faculty members to find out funding sources and personal research planning processes.
 Governance – Putting an efficient research governance mechanism to create a conducive research environment which transparency, accountability and adaptability. ensures functional autonomy,
 Administration Bodies, Authorities and various committees will facilitates planning, implementation and monitoring of research activities in the University and supporting institutional research by integrating multiple functional units under a single-window operational system for effective administration.
 Research Ecosystem- One of the critical functions of RDCs will be to build a vibrant research ecosystem in University to provide meaningful thrust for sustainable research and innovation and promote collaboration between Government, research institutes and industries.
 Information Management System – Creating a Research Information Management System (RIMS) to collect and manage research-oriented information, create databases, share publications, research projects, fellowships, etc.
 Human Resources – Creating a talent pool of motivated individuals to drive the research effort at the higher educational institution.
 Research Promotion & Guidance – Research guidance from RDC will encourage faculties to make efforts to promote better research in their fields. They will find new ideas fuelled by frequent industry-academia interactions and prepare detailed research proposals for funding. It includes –

✓ developing technology and establishing business-centered facilities
✓ Finance
 Integrity and Ethics – The RDC will ensure that young researchers understand the importance of integrity and ethics in research. In addition the RDC will sensitize the researchers and guides about dubious research and publishing in predatory journals.
 Capacity Building – RDC will play an indispensable role in building research capacity of faculty and students undertake research problems in line with the latest advancements and contribute to technological developments relevant to societal needs.
 Research Monitoring – The RDC’s regular duties will include managing and optimizing research resources, keeping an eye on research progress, and conducting timely reviews to ensure projects get finalized on time.
