Jay S. Feldstein, DO '81
An alumnus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Jay S. Feldstein, DO '81,
has served as the institution's eighth president and chief executive officer since
July 1, 2014.
Under Dr. Feldstein's leadership,
PCOM 2025: A Path to Greater Excellence
strengthened the College's academic, clinical and research enterprises; positioned
students for success in a competitive healthcare landscape; empowered faculty and
staff through innovation; and reinforced the institutional foundation for sustained
growth. As PCOM looks ahead, the College remains focused on advancing academic excellence,
innovation and its impact on the future of healthcare and the communities it serves.
Student Success
This year, we mark the 20th anniversary of PCOM Georgia.
At PCOM South Georgia, the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program
expanded its class size
from 55 to 97 students to meet regional needs.
The DO Class of 2025 achieved a
99 percent postgraduate placement rate
Forty-six residents and fellows completed training across 10 PCOM Graduate Medical
Education programs.
The PsyD in School Psychology program
earned full accreditation
from the National Association of School Psychologists.
Securing Clinical Experiences
Across its DO and health professions programs, PCOM logged more than 9,600 clinical
placement sites—a 47.5% increase since 2020.
Clinical education expanded with opportunities at Meritus Medical Center in Maryland
and Core Clinical Campuses at Inspira Health in New Jersey and Piedmont Eastside Hospital
in Georgia.
Innovation and Technology
Faculty, students, and residents shared their discoveries in 292 posters at Research
Day (2025).
The medical cannabis research team
launched new studies
focused on the use of medical cannabis for anxiety disorders, patterns of use, and
public and professional perspectives.
Workday was implemented as PCOM's new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, modernizing
core processes and strengthening operational efficiency across the institution.
Organization and Infrastructure
Upgrades and renovations advanced in
Hassman Academic Center
and the newly renamed Student Success Center in Philadelphia.
PCOM Dining Commons
introduced mobile and kiosk ordering, a 24-hour marketplace, and refreshed seating.
At PCOM Georgia, cafeteria enhancements expanded food options and improved convenience.
Revenue Stream Diversification
PCOM secured nearly $4.5 million in new research funding, contributing to a 57.3%
increase in total research funding since 2020.
The gun violence research team
received a three-year grant
from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, expanding education for
healthcare professionals and behavioral health support through PCOM Family Medicine.
By June 2025, the
United & Ignited Campaign
had raised more than $55.1 million toward its $65 million goal through 7,170 gifts.
In March 2025, the Campaign
received its largest outright gift
—$1 million from Clyde and Sandra Strickland to establish an endowed doctoral scholarship
supporting students from Gwinnett County Public Schools in PCOM Georgia's osteopathic
medicine, pharmacy and physical therapy programs.
Building Healthier Communities
PCOM Psychological Services
launched alongside a
Memory Center
serving Greater Philadelphia.
The
SHELTER
(Support and Healing through Empowerment, Learning and Trauma Education in Recovery
after gun violence) program trained healthcare professionals to prevent and respond
to gun violence, highlighted by the
Souls Shot Portrait Project
honoring lives lost.
Through the
Community Wellness Initiative
, PCOM Healthcare Centers operated food pantries, provided dietary education, and
showcased fresh produce from community gardens in
Teaching Kitchen
demonstrations.
Partnerships with
Philadelphia Youth Basketball
, the
Philadelphia Union Foundation
, Independence Blue Cross, and the Tiger Woods Foundation supported youth mental health,
healthcare career exposure, and family-focused healthy habits.
PCOM's commitment to rural health was
recognized with a permanent building
at the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, expanding screenings, education and access to
care.
Programs including
Opportunities Academy
, STEM Saturday, and
the Undergraduate Research program
at PCOM Georgia continued to prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders.
