NUMBER OF GRANTS THE UNIVERSITY HAS WON IN 2024
1.The University won 9 TETFUND NRF awards out 32 concept notes submitted in the 2023 NRF grant cycle (9 out 185 TETFUND NRF awards to all Nigerian Universities in 2024).
2.The Department of Theatre and Film Arts won a grant titled- Wake the flies. Humanitarian crisis in Plateau state, Nigeria, from Hessen Film and Medien, Frankfurt in February 2024. The grant is a production funding for young talents. The value of the grant is 25000E.
3. Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences won a grant from the Africa Research Excellence Fund Research Development July 24 titled- Effect of the Necessity-Concerns Framework on Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus Treatment Outcomes, Total value of Award £9,011.00.
4. The College of Health Sciences got an NIH grant tiled: Nigeria - Northwestern Research Training Program in HIV/AIDS Malignancies (NN-HAM) project from the Forgarty International Centre (FIC), National Institutes of Health (NIH) July 2024, valued at $1,470,000.
5.The ORD in August,2024 won a grant- Michigan-Unijos Mentored Programme for Enhanced Research Administration (MUMPERA) from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop the grants management system in the University of Jos and other institutions in Nigeria, one institution each in Togo and Sierra Leone, 2024-2026. The grant value is $112,000.
6. In October,2024 the University received approval from TETFUND for the funding of forty-five (45) research projects for basic research under the Institution Based Research (IBR) intervention valued at N88,132,000.
7. January 19, 2024, grant secured by Dr. Ohemu Temitayo, Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy Sciences titled, Bioactivity Guided Isolation of Bioactive Principles with Male Fertility Activity from the whole Plant of Desmodium Scorpiurus (fabaceae), $13,587, by International Foundation for Science (IFS),
8. January 25, 2024, DAAD-TNB project: Film Culture & Archival Studies, by Geothe University Frankfurt, led by Prof. Nancy King, Department of Theatre Arts, Euros 8,160
9. July 3, 2024, Smart-ware: A Technology-Based Security and Privacy Awareness Solution for Mobile Devices Users, Department of Computer Sciences, Funded by the National Communications Commission (NCC), N13,709,220.
10. March 18, 2024, Professorial Chair in Petroleum, Funded by the Petroleum Development Trust Fund (PTDF), to the Department of Geology and Mining, N36,299,878.49
11. July 2, 2024, Deciphering the Burden of Helmish Parasites of Dogs and their Associated Risks in Jos and Environs, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, sponsored by Mirris Animal Foundation, Colorado, Denver, Germany
12. July 30, 2024, Survey on Heavy Metals in Blood and Fur of Guard Dogs and Soil in Automobile Workshops in Jos Metropolis, sponsored by Mirris Animal Foundation, Colorado, Denver, Germany.
