Hanover College wants to be the “most pet-friendly campus” in the nation!
We have noticed over the past several years that more and more students are interested in bringing their pets with them when they join us as students. Our community
loves
animals, so we have put in place several opportunities to bring “Spike” to campus.
Small Pets
: any student, in any building is able to register to bring a small pet with them to Hanover College. This includes animals that fit in small cages, such as birds, lizards, gerbils and small bunnies.
Large Pets
: students who live in Wiley or KP Halls are eligible to register to bring a large pet to campus. This includes dogs, cats, and larger caged animals such as ferrets and chinchillas.
Emotional Support Animals and Service Animals

Dr. Bob’s Dog Park
Hanover College has opened a dog park on campus for our community’s furry friends to come “play, pee and ponder.” The park is made possible through a generous donation from Vicki Jenkins in memory of her late husband Bob Rosenthal, professor emeritus of philosophy.
All Hanover College community members (students, employees and alumni) can register to use Dr. Bob’s Dog Park, located in the Greenwood Circle green space. Once up-to-date vaccination records are received, approval will be granted.

Pet-Friendly Events
Each year in October, Hanover celebrates the “Blessing of the Animals.” All creatures, great and small, are invited to receive a blessing from our campus chaplain.
The campus tailgate lot is home to cookouts, gatherings of students, families and alumni, and getting pumped up for the big game! It’s also home to our leashed friends, who are welcome to get into the Hanover spirit before kick-off.
