Methodist Volunteers In Partnership (VIP) was organized in 1949 for the purpose of providing volunteer support to all members of the health care team at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women's Hospital.
Today, the role of the volunteer has become a vital part of Methodist Health System, and several meaningful service positions are available to anyone interested in being a part of Methodist Hospital, Methodist Women’s Hospital, Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center or West Dodge Medical Plaza.
Methodist VIP members have opportunities to learn new skills, make friends and gain the invaluable satisfaction that comes from providing support that is much needed and appreciated.
Share your gifts of time, energy and expertise. Become a member of Methodist VIP today!

Volunteer Opportunities and Benefits
When you become a member of Methodist VIP, you have the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of areas suited to your preferences, availability and enjoyment. We look forward to your support in one or more of the following service areas.
Patient Services
Patient services volunteers are invaluable to patients in their rooms. They provide friendship and support to elder patients or those at end of life. They offer coffee, deliver flowers, help with mail and email, and provide assistance to our therapy dog program as well as radiology and cancer patients and staff.
Information and Hospitality
Volunteers who enjoy greeting people and providing information and guidance are needed to work at information desks, lobbies and the surgery waiting lounge, and also to guide visitors to their destinations.
Gift Shop
Whether selling candy and magazines or apparel and jewelry, our gift shop clerks provide an important retail service to patients, their families and to staff. In addition, gift shop buyers work closely with hospital staff to purchase merchandise. (All proceeds go toward the VIP annual funding designation.)
Support
Volunteers who provide operational support are vital to the day-to-day success of the hospital – whether they are putting together packets, collating brochures, delivering patient-related supplies, sewing projects for our patients or assisting in the hospital terrace garden.
Volunteens
The Methodist Volunteen program offers high school students a special opportunity to gain experience in the health care setting. Incoming and current Omaha metro-area high school students are eligible and must commit to a minimum of 1 year of service. Due to the large interest in the Volunteen program, Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital may have applicant waiting lists.
VIP Benefits
Member benefits include invitations to the Annual Meeting and Recognition Luncheon and other volunteer appreciation events; a complimentary meal from our cafeteria on your volunteer day; free flu shots for volunteers who offer on-site service; and a 10% discount in the gift shop.
