Why did I receive a separate bill from a specialty physician office?
If you receive services provided by specialty physicians who are not employed by Beacon or who work on a contract basis with Beacon, you will receive separate bills from those physicians’ practices. Examples include radiology and emergency department physicians as well as non-Beacon Medical Group surgeons. Billing for these physicians’ services is managed separately by their practices. Bills from Beacon will not include the charges for these specific specialty physicians.
Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations
Beacon Health System is part of an Accountable Care Organization (ACO). We’ve teamed up with other
doctors, hospitals, and health care providers to make sure you get the best care.

What is my financial responsibility as a patient?
Required copays, coinsurance or deductible amounts will be collected in advance of appointments for some medical services. Out-of-pocket payment amounts due are determined by patients' health plans. Patients who have Medicaid coverage or who are prequalified for financial assistance will not have an out-of-pocket amount due.
Our financial counselors are here to help, including providing information about a zero-interest payment plan and financial assistance. Call

How are refunds for overpayment handled?
Although every effort is made to ensure estimates are as accurate as possible, there will be instances where the patient will owe Beacon an amount that differs from the amount presented on the estimate.
Patients who overpay at the time of service will be issued a refund once their claim is finalized and paid through their insurance plan. The timing of this refund will vary depending on how quickly the claim finalizes through the patient’s insurance company and could be issued anywhere from several weeks to several months after the patient’s visit.
If the patient owes Beacon for a separate, previous service, any overpayment amount will be applied to that service before a refund is issued.
